About Me

Assistant Professor working with web technologies, software engineering education, and applied digital systems.

I am Matija Novak, Assistant Professor at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics, where I teach courses related to web technologies and web application development. My work connects teaching, applied research, and practical digital systems, with a focus on programming education, source-code analysis, software quality, and maintainable software design. I am also a member of the WATSS laboratory at FOI, active in several professional and community associations, a Linux enthusiast, and a regular reader of books that inform both my academic work and personal projects.

Academic Profile

Teaching-focused academic work with a strong web orientation.

My teaching and project work are centred on the web as a practical and evolving medium: web applications, web services, web architectures, software design, and the tools needed to build and evaluate them well.

Alongside teaching, I work on topics related to programming education, academic integrity in student programming assignments, and the analysis of software artefacts in educational settings.

I am also a member of The Laboratory for Web Architectures, Technologies, Services and Interfaces at FOI and remain active in professional, community, and open-source organisations.
